Heng Yang, PharmD, MS
Non-Traditional PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident


Heng Yang is currently a non-traditional PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Chicago Medicine. She graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Basic Medical Sciences and worked as a research scientist in Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals prior going to pharmacy school. Her interests include infectious disease, oncology and pediatric medicine. Heng’s career goal is to become a well-rounded clinical pharmacist and to continue involvement in clinical research.


PGY1 Research

Heng’s PGY1 Research project is focused on evaluating the effectiveness of implementing geriatric guided prescribing for computerized-physician order entry system. The research project is titled, “Implementation of geriatric guided prescribing for computerized-physician order entry and effect on prescribing of potentially inappropriate medications.” The primary outcome of the project is comparison of recommend dosing agreement in the pre-implementation of geriatric guided prescribing versus the post-implementation period. The secondary outcomes are the incidence of adverse drug events in the pre-implementation versus post-implementation period, and the incidence of in-hospital falls per 100 patient days in the pre versus post-implementation period.
