
Clinical Pharmacy Internship Program
Application Instructions & Eligibility
Highlighted activities of the clinical pharmacy internship program include:

Practical application of acquired graduate level knowledge to high level department of pharmacy initiatives

Work closely with pharmacy leadership, mentors, and residents to further professional development
-
Provide direct patient care through medication history and reconciliation, medication education, and participation during interdisciplinary patient care rounding
-
Exposure to operational pharmacy through an introduction to automation, medication distribution processes, controlled substance tracking and inventory, a decentralized floor-based technician model and inventory management
-
Potential to be involved in pharmacy research opportunities such as medication use evaluations, retrospective research, data analysis, and policy and procedure development
Applicant Requirements to be Eligible

Must be enrolled in a Doctorate of Pharmacy program in a College of Pharmacy that is ACPE accredited or seeking accreditation

Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician Intern License

Must be in good academic standing with college of pharmacy

Availability to volunteer for internship hour requirements during the 6 to 8 weeks during summer break (June 1st through August 7th)
Time Commitment
-
40 hours per week for a required minimum 6-week commitment during the 8 week experience (June 1st through August 7th)

Days off are not permitted during the first week (June 1st through June 5th) or the last week (August 3rd through August 7th)

Important Dates + Information

The UCM Clinical Pharmacy Internship (CPI) Program is a voluntary experience designed to provide students the opportunity to enhance their clinical and leadership skills
-
Clinical Pharmacy Interns will work 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, 5 days per week) for 6 to 8 weeks
-
All CPI will be given the week of 6/29-7/3 off, and may elect to take one additional week off that is not the first or the last week of the program

Internship dates: May 28th to July 26th for which the first and last weeks are required

February 7th - CPI Application opens
