PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident


Zachary Truman is currently a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Chicago Medicine. He graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. During his time at UNC, Zack was involved in several student run organizations and most notably chaired the Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity (LEAD) program, which targeted high school and college students who are interested in the pharmaceutical sciences. His pharmaceutical interests include cardiology, critical care, and research.


PGY1 Research

Zack’s PGY1 research project is centered on examining the relationship between tacrolimus blood concentrations, normalized by the dose, and renal function post cardiac transplantation. His research project is titled, “The Association Between Tacrolimus Concentration/Dose and Renal Function Following Cardiac Transplant.” The primary outcome of his research project is to further elucidate the relationship of renal function and tacrolimus blood concentrations, specifically comparing those patients deemed fast and slow tacrolimus metabolizers. The secondary outcomes of this study focus on the time to a therapeutic tacrolimus trough, graft function, liver function tests, need for a ketoconazole booster, and adverse effects in these two patient populations.
